Our story began in 1791, with a factory founded on the site of humble beginnings of textile manufacture in Kells. The trade, then a small dyeworks, was established by local abbotts of the Augustinian Order in the 12th century; the same Order that led the way in cloth finishing across Medieval Europe. Their legacy is woven into our proud heritage; a fine tradition of quality craftsmanship that remains to this day. The ruins of that historic Abbey are preserved on our site, reminding us of how this business was born. We have enjoyed providing over 220 years of building on such rich history, specialising in a variety of waxed cotton finishes. Traditional knowledge and methods are still used, and we constantly explore new innovations to continue producing quality that has made Templemoyle Mills a market leader in the business of textile manufacturing. Whatever the requirement, we produce cutting edge products suited to the needs of modern society; yet steeped in tradition and warm heritage.
